Shalom Austin Recycles

Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO)

The Austin City Council set a Zero Waste goal to reduce waste by 75% by 2020 and 90% by 2040.

To help achieve this goal, we have located recycling containers near entrances and in most offices throughout the Dell Jewish Community Campus. You can place boxes, paper, bottles, jars, and cans in these containers. Look for beige, grey, or blue recycling containers (all will have the familiar recycling symbol on them) and informative posters to identify what can be placed in these containers.

Judaism & Going Green: Protecting the environment for future generations is an ethical responsibility rooted in the fundamental values of our religious tradition. Bal tashchit (preserving the earth) and shmirat ha adamah (taking care of the earth) are not merely Jewish values, but our commitment.

For more information on recycling onsite, or if you need a recycling container for your classroom or office on the Dell Jweish Community Campus, contact Aaron Herbster.
