As a courtesy to the wide variety of Jewish dietary practices, the JCAA supports a Kashrut policy concerning food on Campus. The Hospitality office is happy to assist in menu planning or answer any questions you might have regarding this policy. Conditions of the Kashrut policy are as follows:
- There shall be no shellfish or pork at any catered event.
- Outside caters shall refrain from serving meat and dairy products in the same meal. For example, if beef fajitas are served, there shall be no cheese or sour cream offered.
- The Community Hall Kitchen shall be used for preparation only.
Other JCAA Catering Policies
Any event-related rental items delivered to the JCC must be picked up the same day as your event, unless prior approval is obtained from the Hospitality office.
Alcoholic beverages are allowed, provided that TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) laws are followed and alcohol is never offered self-serve. At events where alcohol is served, security is required. We strongly suggest alcohol be served by a TABC certified bartender.
"A few things about attending an event at the JCC: The grounds are capacious, the parking generous and the place makes sense socially. The rooms feed into one another in a rational way. It’s also a pretty straight shot from downtown."--Michael Barnes, Austin American-Statesman Austin360 Out & About Blog
