About the Young Adult Division (YAD)
The Young Adult Division (YAD) hosts various networking events designed to allow Austin’s Jewish professionals in their 20s and 30s to meet and socialize in an enjoyable and engaging setting. YAD also plans and promotes cultural programs such as holiday celebrations and Israel activism, and takes part in community service projects hosted by the JCAA. Since its launch in 2002, more than 400 people have joined YAD. YAD is for singles, couples and young families.

To find out more about all that YAD has to offer, follow the links below, or contact Dana Epstein at (512) 795-9937 x17 or dana.epstein@shalomaustin.org.

Cultural Programs
YAD organizes cultural celebrations for Jewish holidays, including Shabbat Potlucks throughout the year and the Annual YAD Break Fast during Yom Kippur. YAD also visits area congregations for Friday evening Shabbat services. Additionally, YAD works in collaboration with the JCAA to participate in a variety of community-wide events. Annual events include the Austin Jewish Book Fair, the Tapestry of Jewish Learning, the Austin Jewish Film Festival and the JCAA’s Purim Carnival. New in 2005 is Torah on Tap—a monthly opportunity to discuss Jewish topics with Austin’s clergy in a non-traditional setting.

Community Service Projects
YAD creates opportunities that allow members to give their time, energy, and/or money to the Austin community and the JCAA United Jewish Campaign. YAD hosts an annual fundraiser and also participates in Campaign’s annual Phone-a-thon. Additionally, YAD creates various community service activities throughout the year including a December Volunteer Week, participation in community action projects with Hands-On-Housing, and the opportunity to participate in Jewish Family Service's Volunteer for Seniors program.
